If the evasion rate is capped at, say, 50%, then that character will get hit before the natural regeneration achieve anything.

Your argument of any evasive character evading ALL assaults infinitely to the point where natural regeneration can make a substantial difference is fundamentally flawed.

That is on top of the ridiculous assumption that the evasive character will not participate in any combat, since the moment he initiates an attack, the regeneration will cease instantly.
A basic PvP tactic to stop pressure is through the use of the monk skill Aegis. Its a 50% chance of blocking for the whole party.

Assassins are pretty much screwed, because they cant miss with their attack combos, one miss and the combo ends. Warriors and Dervish DPS is cut down in half.

In the middle of a battle, 50% avoidance of attacks is a VERY powerful advantage to have. And stack a built in evasion + defensive enchantments + armor buffs.

That built in 50% really goes a LONG way.

--------------

A built in evasion/blocking attribute with ZERO stipulation, ie: a passive attribute will not be broken by parameters, it will be broken by its mechanic of how its played.

A mechanic of built in evasion/blocking should be an ACTIVE attribute. Either through stipulation of activating on certain conditions, or for limited times.

Balance means everything has a price. Good effects have a high cost. Mediocre effects have low cost.

If you attempt to use a percentage of built in passive evasion and balance it with reduced armor, you'll either be overpowered or gimped.

Overpowered if the evasion is too high.
Gimped if the evasion is too low.

Its just not worth it.

Excuse me... not that I'm not highly interested in this conversation but this seems to have turned into a debate between wither inherit evasion is good or not, which wither you know it or not was not the point of the thread.

That being said i have to put in my two cents:
I've read up on what everyone posted and i agree with some ideas and disagree with others. Primarily low armor would more likely than not even out evasion to physical attacks primarily because of the complete openness to all elemental damage including wands and many skills. Also the very basic fact that at lower levels you wouldn't have enough attribute points to completely protect yourself.

Once you reached the point were you could load down your evasion attribute of course it would be harder to kill but so is everything else it's kinda part of the game you know getting better skills and armor to fight better opponents.
But on the other hand making the attribute completely passive is a bad idea because of what lyra_song said about the natural regeneration so the attribute could only kick in while actively fighting or a stipulation such as that.

I posted this knowing that it would most likely not solve anything and in the long run get me burned by some one but if thats the case oh well.

Well its ultimately up to you which direction you wanna take the idea.

My assassin for PvE uses the elite skill: [skill]Flashing Blades[/skill]. I use a armor+ while attacking, and zealous +15 while stanced daggers.

Attacks pretty much miss me all the time since flashing blades can be kept up forever. Anytime theres AOE damage, i just kite out of the way. I have recall and feigned neutrality for emergency.

I never have a hard time killing things (provided they dont explode after i kill em...) and i breeze through pve easily. But this is because of a whole build, armor, weapons and skills all together mix to create a character that avoids damage very easily and escapes when she does take damage. If such an ability was passive, it would be very powerful.
